Mathematics - 2018

IALT: Relfect on what I've done for maths
Kia Ora and Welcome back to my blog! Yesterday for maths, we had free maths time. This is when we get into groups and play a maths game. For Example: Me and my group choose the playing cards as figuring out what number we have on our forehead.

This is how the game goes:
There are 2 people versing.
And the other calling out what those numbers equal using multiplication thinking.
E.G- One person has 3 and the other person has 9. The person without the cards with equal them together -( 3 x 9 )= 27. So they will say 27. Do not say the numbers out loud like "3 x 9 = 27". NO, you just say what it equals and they need to try guess what number they have. The person with the 3 and if he/she says 3 then they get the cards from their head and their mates head.

This was the best of how I could explain the game, but if you do get it, then have fun playing it !
I would rate this game 10 out of 10 because its really educational and can also test your multiplication speed.

I really enjoyed this game, because it challenged me and I like to face challenges. I also liked being the person without the cards on my forehead, because it gave me some time to figure out what both numbers equal, and it also let me think. What I found challenging was when I had to speed think about the card number I have on my head.

I ejoyed maths today! And I hope we can do this some other day!
Thankyou for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed reading!
PLEASE try out this game, it is available to all ages and have fun!

Technology - Cooking Class

IALT: Reflect on my cooking session at technology
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be reflecting on my cooking class session - As it says on the IALT:

This session we made Hawaiian pizza. Although I don't like pineapples, the pizza went well with the other ingredients, which are - Dice, Ham, Chicken and cheese.
Something I really enjoyed about this session was once again, eating the food! As it melted in my mouth, it was like I was in wonderland. With the best combined flavoured food.
Throughout this session, I didn't find anything challenging because i've already experienced, how to make a pizza. If you would like to have a try at making your own Hawaiian pizza, read below to see the recipe book.

RECIPE BOOK:
You'll need:
Pita bread, Tomato Paste, Ham, Onion, Chicken, Cheese and pineapple.

KickBoxing

IALT: Reflect on what i've learned in kickboxing
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog!

Today, for kickboxing we were learning about DEFENCE - Defence stances. Guard, footwork, Slip and roll. I really enjoyed this session! Something I enjoyed about it was learning the different kinds of stances, as I am new to boxing! It was great getting to experience something new, and also learning how to defend myself when it comes to bad situations. The challenging part from this session was, trying to hit the noodle in front of me. Because, I have small hands, the noodle helps me to know my stances and defence moves. Next time, I could improve on aiming for the noodle, instead of throwing my hands out. So, my goal for next time is to Aim and also to always have my guard. (Rock stance). Something I've learned from boxing was, how to keep myself balanced and giving my lower body a foundation to hold, so that I don't fall or lose balance. I also learned the defence stances. Guard, footwork, slip and roll. From these stances, my favourite was the footwork, because when the noodle would come down aiming for my head, its like a whole bunch of maths is running through my head. Its like my brains telling the that if I move 50 degrees backwards, I would ditch the noodle. This is something I enjoyed learning!

In boxing, we also have 3 commandments:
Respect, Discipline and Safety.
Respect: I will have respect for myself, my coach, my peers, and the sport boxing.
Discipline: I will have the discipline to turn up to every boxing session, and give my 100%
Safety: I will not cause harm to others and only practice boxing in a safe environment under the guidance of a coach.
To me, this means having the respect for yourself, others and also the sport boxing. Turning up to every practice with a 100% effort, and also caring for the equipment and people around me.

Questions:
Have you ever done boxing? Is it hard or easy? What is your highlight about boxing?
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

WHATNOW!

Kia Ora Aotearoa, Malo Lava soifua,
Wake up, Get up, Tune In, Join in for some fun,
Weŕe dancing, jumping, laughing and this is a home of fun.

Hmm? Where might this intro come from.
Are you thinking what Iḿ thinking?
Yes you are right, it is the theme song/intro from WHAT NOW!

If you haven't seen the show WHAT NOW.
What now is a New Zealand kids show that was premiered in 1981. It is filmed as a live studio audience and travels around to random schools.

Surprisingly,
WHAT NOW has visited my school, and have had lots of foamy, and gungey fun.
My favourite part about their visit to my school, was getting to compete live!
Really, I just wanted to be caught on camera and be famous.

The activity I took part in was ´Clash of codes´. I got really messy, but still did my part in doing the activity. Even though, my team lost our challenge, we still had lots of fun.
Clash of codes is a game where letters are in a foam pool,
with 7 players in each team. The challenge is, to get letters out spelling what now! And sticking them onto a big board.

I would say that this was the challenging part of the day for me.

Just to throw it out there,
something I honestly enjoyed was meeting the What now hosts:
Ronnie,
Erin,
And Chris.

And for also winning myself gunge and a rugby ball!

Museum Trip - Pt2

IALT: Reflect on my Museum Trip
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog!
Today, half of the Kia Manawanui syndicate once again went to the museum. The reason why we went for another trip to the museum, was to finish off our last session from Tuesday.

This was a great day!
I really enjoyed my time at the museum.
It was even better, spending time and learning new things with our instructors
- Angelique and Wendy.
They are the people who taught me how to use the gadgets
around the museum. Gadgets such as
: Stop motion, Virtual Reality, 3D painting, and the green screen.
It was fun getting to experience tools I haven't used often or before.
Although, my favourite gadget was the virtual reality.
This was because, I got to create my own world. ‘Something magical’.
It made me feel like I was in wonderland!
Nice environment and snowmans everywhere.
It sounds weird, but remember this is me creating my own world.
I also liked the virtual reality because it made me feel like I was being filmed,
like in a movie!
What I found challenging was needing the clay for the stop motion
, and having to move the clay when using the stop motion.
Because when I would move the clay, at least one piece of it would fall off,
and it would make other parts of clay collapse.
This was also frustrating for me.
Throughout this whole session something i’ve learned was,
how natural disasters are caused and predictions ‘Te Ao Maori’ believe.
Example: Have you ever heard of Tangaroa. He is god of the ocean.
Some Maori tribes believe that Tangaroa
is what causes tsunami, as he is god of the ocean.
Besides this, it was great getting to learn stories and beliefs of
how natural disasters happen. What I really wanted to learn/ and do,
was think beyond the box about how earthquakes are caused, and are
their other ways earthquakes are caused.
I also would’ve liked if my group went for a tour around
other exhibitions to learn more about our topic.
Next time, I think I could use an object -Eg.Toothpick,Skewer -
to hold my clay together, this is so my art piece stays together with foundation.
The first step to making this change is, buying the objects I need and
being prepared for when the day comes.
What day? The instructors will be visiting our school with the work we’ve done,
and we will be finishing off our unfinished work.
Question: Have you ever used stop motion? Do you find it challenging, or easy to use?
And What objects do you use for your stop motion?

Thank you for reading my blog! And I hope you enjoyed!

Technology - Cooking Class

IALT: Reflect on my cooking class session
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog, today for cooking we made : Sausage kebabs.
Something I really enjoyed about this session was eating the kebabs. It was even better when the sweet chilli sauce was added to my kebabs. Can you just imagine what it looks like?

Besides this, I also enjoyed the maths that was added into our cooking session. What types of maths was added? Well, it was fractions. Because I still need to work on my fractions, it was good learning through cooking.
Example: I cut 1 whole sausage into halves. The halved them again, which made quarters. Then I halved the quarters, and that made eighths.
Throughout the whole session,

I will just say that everything that block was AMAZING! The food was spectacular, and my cooking was updated. (Skills grew).
Here is a photo of me and the kebabs I made:

To make this delicious kebab you will need:
- Skewers
- Knives
- Sausages
- Peppers
- Onion
- Baking paper
- Tray

Step 1.
Put skewer into cold bowl of water (So it don't burn in the oven)
2. Slice sausages, Onions, Peppers (Try not to make it small)
3. Combine food on sticks (Be creative of how you layer them)
4. Add baking paper on tray. Then put skewers onto baking paper.
5. Bake 15 minutes.
6. Add sauce (Optional).

I hope you have fun making this kebab! And thank you for reading my blog!

Museum Trip Reflection

IALT: Reflect on our trip to the Museum.
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog!
Today, half of the Kia Manawanui syndicate went on a trip to the museum, so we can learn more about natural disasters. This was an educational session that helps us learn more about how the disasters are caused and why they are caused.

Before we get more into the reflection, here are our instructors names.
Tom, Aaron, Wendy & Angelina.

Something I really enjoyed at the museum was the volcanic room. The volcanic room is a room that lets us experience what it may feel like during a volcanic eruption. The ground was shaking, a volcano was being formed from underground and the NEWS had been shown to tell us what is currently happening.

What I didn't enjoy was looking at one gallery. Honestly, what I really wanted/thought we would have done at the museum was look at all the galleries. But, then I remembered that we were there to look at natural disasters.
In the future,
I would like to look around the whole museum as I haven't visited all galleries before.

At the museum we had so many activities, such as:
Virtual Reality (V.R)
Tinker Cad
Robots
Stop Motions
Green Screens & also painting 3D.

Out of all of those activities, my favourite was the V.R. This was because, I got to experience a whole new world and I also got to draw 3D pictures. The V.R made the mystery world feel real.

Next time we go to the museum(Friday), we will be creating movies that relate to natural disasters. The natural disaster me and my partner used was 'Earthquakes', because we know more facts and information about Earthquakes.

Also, the objects we will be using to help with our movie is :
The robot, Stop Motion and also the green screen.
Something I am imaging the movie to look like:
Is, we will use stop motion and clay to create our people and earthquake. It will be laid on the floor.
The robot is to record the after math, and will stop at each destination to give us a good look at what happens to buildings and cars.
And the green screen will give us a background for our movie.
I am also thinking about a (voice over), to help people understand how Earthquakes occur, before, during and after.

Honest opinion,
Now thinking about friday's session, I am excited more for that day than today.
Because I get to work instead of walking around and learning about volcanoes.

The Museum was so fun!

Technology - Cooking Class

IALT: Reflect on my technology class
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be reflecting on what I've done at technology.

At technology, my class made some hot cakes. - Pancakes.
Something I enjoyed about this session was, eating the pancakes. Something I thought that ruined my pancakes was the whip cream. Although I did enjoy the chocolate sizzle on my pancakes.

Something challenging for me was flipping the pancakes. This was because when me and my buddy flipped the pancakes, half of the pancake would be cooked or uncooked or the oil will splat on our skin. I was the one who mostly got hit by the oil.

Keep reading to find out how to make hot cakes:

Hot Cakes.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 of s.r flour
1 sugar
1 egg
1/2 of milk
Mix all ingrediants together

Recipe Book:
1. Heat oil / butter in pan.
2. When it bubbles, pour mixture into pan
3. When pancakes bubble - flip over
4. Wait for other side to cook
5. DECORATIONS - OPTIONAL
Whipped cream with chocolate sauce.
6. NOW YOUR PANCAKES ARE READY TO BE EATEN!
I really enjoyed cooking class for the past few weeks, because the food we made, just made me feel like the greatest cook known. Also, because I got to connect with my pairs during cooking class. !
I now know how to cook or bake!

This is me and my buddies hot cakes.

Social Science - Natural Disasters

IALA: How people are affected by natural disasters.
Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog!
Image result for ahh gif
Today, we have been learning about how we might think people are affected by natural disasters. And, also how they might feel after the disaster stops!
I haven't experienced a natural disaster before. But, if I was to be in someone else's shoes and a natural disaster happened - Honestly, I would be shocked not knowing what to do. Because, I haven't experienced it before.

During a natural disaster I would be so shocked, I wouldn't even be able to blink or move, because I don't know what's happening. I would start crying and thinking about how my family and friends are doing. Also, I wouldn't have anything with me like - Food, Clothes, Torch etc. Important things to take with me, so that I can survive.

After the natural disaster, I will feel relieved and still shocked.
Relieved - Because it has finished and I survived.
Shocked - I would still feel shocked, because the natural disaster just happened.
I would also start thinking about where I will go, where I will stay, and how will I rebuild a house. Thinking about the future, also - FOOD!.

Going through that just put me through a lot of stress,
and now I am starting to wonder about my family and friends, instead of thinking about me. And what I will need or be doing.

I think that the main message in this session was :
1. Have something prepared just in case of a natural disaster.
2. Think about you, before thinking about family. (Where will you stay?, where will you get your food from?).
3. Try avoid places that commonly has natural disasters.

This was a great lesson, and I can't wait to learn more about natural disasters.
THANKYOU! FOR READING!

The first thing I would take:
The first thing or object I will take is my little siblings, before everything.
