How hobbies support your Whare Tapa Wha
What is a hobby? A hobby is an activity done regularly in your leisure time for enjoyment.
Hobbies, as expressions of one's passion and creativity, hold a very important place in a person's life. They are beneficial to the hobbyist in more ways than one. For one, hobbies are those activities which people choose to do, and not which they have to do. There is a lot of difference between wanting to do something and having to do it. We want to do only those things that we like to do, things that give us pleasure and peace of mind. Hobbies have an inherent quality of keeping us entertained for long hours. They elevate our spirits, and keep us happy. And obviously, when we are happy, we tend to spread the same feeling all around us. This is the magic of hobbies. Here's why hobbies hold an important place in our lives.
Here is a presentation to show my knowledge through on how hobbies can support your whare tapa wha:

The call for the heroes was sent around,
Australian, New Zealand boys and men were adventure bound,
They never gave up, they fought for us all,
Speaking we “LOVE YOU” and many more.
The trenches were cold and soldiers were worn,
The gunfire was held down from dusk to dawn,
From the moment they landed in ANZAC cove,
For peace and happiness, they all strove.

What is personification?
*Giving human qualities to nonhuman things
*Making nonhuman things turn alive or into everyday human doings
*It is a rhetorical move,a type of persuasive strategy, that has to do with giving human things.
E.G:
1. The wind whispered through the trees
2. Time creeps up on you.
Take a look at my google drawing and it may give you a clue on what PERSONIFICATION means;
Ko te whakatauki O tenei wiki
Kia ora Koutou!
Today, room 10 has been given 2 whakatauki. They are both similar, but is worded within gender.
Here are our whakatauki:

XtraMath
Do you know what XtraMath is? Well, XtraMath is a free website program that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts...
Although, I am asking if you know what Xtramath is, because I have been learning my additions, subtractions, multiplications and division facts which is critical to success in mathematics. This web will really help you, and can be also played by teachers and students. Or even for parents at home.
As playing on Xtramath, a man gives you some instructions to guide you through this mathematics web. Listen carefully and follow the steps..
Speed and Accuracy are both important to fluency and XTRAMATH will help kids build up both. The equations will go harder and harder, every time you clock the levels, which is; 4 stages and 100 sum's.
So, if you would like to build your strength in Mathematics, join now! And make sure you get some adult permission to lead you on..
Have Fun!
This photo shows how well, I have achieved my addition facts! I have just started today and I am excited to carry on and succeed more!

Massive Volcano erupts in Mexico - WLJ
The popocatepetl Volcano in Mexico has been erupted, throwing smoke, water vapour and gas into the air. The eruption has made an ash cloud that reaches to about 2,000 meters high, above the volcano's crater.
That is more than five times the height of the Empire State building in New York.
A huge crater is created on top of the volcano after the first eruption blew the top off. People neighboring had been given advice about how to protect themselves from the ash.
Did you know?
Did you know that there are more than 3,000 volcano's in Mexico, but only 14 are considered to be active.
Why do Volcano's erupt?
Volcano' erupt because of the density and pressure. The lower density of the magma relative to the surrounding rocks, causes it to rise(Like bubbles in syrup). It will rise to the surface or depth that is determined by the density of magma and the weight of the rocks. - Description from: Google. #Whydovolcano'serupt.

Today, I have chosen a Tui!
Do you know what a Tui is?
Well, first of all, a Tui is a native bird of New Zealand. It is one of the largest members of the variety honeyeater family. The name Tui comes from the formal culture Maori and is a very common name. You may see or even hear the Tui's chriping every day at the Auckland Museum.
Latin Name: Prosthemadera Novaeseelandiae
Maori Name: Tui
The Habitat of a Tui is widespread in forest, open country and a relating/characteristic area throughout New Zealand.
Tui appear black at a dark distance, but are mainly iridescent green with dark bluish/purple relfections. The back and side of the neck is are ornamented with white shafted feathers, which curl forwards on the side of the neck. The iris is dark brown , the bill and legs are black .
This is the animal I have chosen for the day and I hope you enjoy.

New Zealand by Land and Sea
After a short ride through Auckland it is time to start exploring the rest of the country. Today you are going to venture around the north island of New Zealand to look at active volcanoes, gorgeous beaches, windswept coastline and lush, green bush. As a group, you will start at Rangitoto, the largest volcano in New Zealand before driving west to Karekare, a stunning beach on the outskirts of Auckland. You will finish the day by driving north to visit Tane Mahuta, the oldest living kauri tree in New Zealand. After exploring through Tane Mahuta, you are going to arrive at a Dargaville Hotel.
- #DesciptionfromWinterLearningJourney
Please read through the following articles and choose your 3 favourite... Make sure to put them in order.
Rangitoto:
I have chosen Rangitoto as my first favourite because it is an Island I see every present day. Today, I am watching it right now. I have also chose this active volcano because, it would be a great journey to explore around it. Sightseeing the different kinds of trees and pest-free animals.
What is Pest-free?
Pest-free is effective against Mice, Rats and aids in the control of cockroaches. As you take a travel around Rangitoto, you may see some mice traps. This is so, human beings don't get hurt while having a little walk around. Mice and Rats are actually strong and smart did you know.
Karekare Beach:
I have chosen Karekare beach as my second favourite because it has a gorgeous look to it and also has a great make up art set. I also love Karekare beach because it has an amazing view and also has different types of fallen cliffs. But, the only specific name I am concerned about is that, Karekare beach is close to Peha Beach. I have seen a lot of people getting injured at Peha beach. This is because the currents and flows are too strong. It is like a Rocket flying a 2,000 weighted pull up in the air. How can this be?
Tanemahuta:
Next, I have chosen Tanemahuta. Tanemahuta was the first ever tree to be planted in Papatu-a-nuku(Mother Earth), this is his mother. He was also the son that had the strength to seperate his close loving parents. This is why we get rain sometimes. During one year, a mature tree will physically grow more than 48pounds of carbon dioxides.
5 Key questions: (Interview with Laura).
What is you favourite outdoor activity?
What beach do you like best?
How many active volcano's are in NZ?
How do you feel about the future outdoor adventures?
What kind of equipment would I need, to go on outdoor adventures?
#Winterlearningjourney
Thankyou!

New Zealand People
Kia Ora, Malo, Talofa and many more greetings! I have registered for a learning site called The Winter learning journey and travels from North to South... This site will be good for you.!
#1 . Go to the Tourism New Zealand website and click on the ‘Facts - New Zealand People’ tab. Read about the people of New Zealand and then choose three interesting facts to post on your blog. The facts must be written in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste the facts from the website☺. (This is the first step before starting)
Although, my three main topics are : - Early Voyages
- Backyard Genius
- Mateship on the sport field.
I think these topics are inspirational because it shows us humans the history of Maori people. Not all New Zealanders need to be Maori, this is a free country and we welcome anyone! ve
Early Voyages:
From what i've learned, Maori people have voyaged 1,000 miles across the horizon - A.K.A : Pacific Ocean. For Maori people to travel past and around the ocean, they would use a carved WAKA. Waka is the Maori word for Small-Canoe. Maori humans have been traveling miles across the sea and skies everynight, until they found their home... New Zealand. Now, to this day, Maori culture is a central part of New Zealands found identity.
Backyard Genius:
Kiwi people have been discovering and creating many things around the world. This is why we humans now have shelter, food etc. Many years back, men would sacrifice life, no matter what got in their way, just to find shelter, food, clothings etc., for families to survive. How do you think we got what we have now?? Many inventions have been designed in the backyard.
Did you know that New Zealanders are responsible for the tranquilizer gun, electric fences etc.
Mateship on the sport field.
What year do you think the two world wars started? Well, as then, both wars were too heavy and neither were balanced on a right type of level. They would both fall on one angle and then another angle. This saw a great weight accident and threw out some of New Zealands male population. Many families lost their husbands, father, uncle, grandpa etc. Now days, it is a loyalty to become friends and mateship. This quality is still in everyone and we also need to remember that we are all special no matter what religon etc.
#2. Your tour of New Zealand is going to start right here in Auckland. Watch the Tourist video for Auckland to learn about the awesome things that you can see and do in the city. Once you’ve finished, choose your favourite five activities from the video and list them on your blog.
Thankyou for listening to my text:

Shows a big part of my culture. Has a display of Maori cultures history.
- Rainbows End
Fun Adventure Park. Lots of fun.
- Bungy Jump (Sky tower)
Exploring what Auckland looks like from the top. Breathe taking activity.
- Outland Park
Viewing the different kinds of natives in the outside land. Native animals.
- Waitakere Ranges.
I have chosen Waitakere Ranges because the trees that lay here are what helps humans survive from stalvation, shelter etc. It also has a history behind it and how it comes every year.
Some times, I believe that, when Matariki comes every year, they have a gift for each of the 6 sons born from Papatu-a-nuku(Mother Earth) and Ranginui(Sky Father). One of the Matariki sisters would always send a gift as children to Tanemahuta, to the sharing of humans.

Whakatauki O tenei wiki
Kia ora, Malo, Talofa and many more greetings! Today, I will be writing about my Whakatauki o tenei wiki:
"Kia rere au ki te rangi, tuhaha. Kia tau atu au ki taku taumata" _ "Let me soar to the heavens, so that I may reach my potential"
Key message:
To me, the key message in this whakatauki is:
Leaving Earth to the heavens so that you can reach the standard level of your skills. Developing plans to achieve your goals; Going to the next level in life as you have the faith to go high and far to succeeding your achievements.
A time in my life this whakatauki relates to me is when:
I create myself goals as I fly high, setting over standards and reaching stars that make people recognise the spirit and faith I have in me. This is to show them that I can/will achieve my goals, no matter if others want to hold me back. Because I will still believe in myself and you should to.
In the future:
In the future, I could use this whakatauki when;
Seeing others who feel left out because they don't have any support in them achieving their goals,(Like if your parents don't show up at your tournament: Because you want to show them what skills you have). Even if they do not have any goals, you can still encourage them to do the right thing. If you do, you may recieve kindness in a return. We learn the importance of sharing, appreciating those shared with us, and remembering that we are all special.
My Own Version:
"Everybody is a gift from above, as though that we are reminded to work together and support eachother"
"We all know the importance of sharing and support"
"Reach your mind out to the stars, to make people recognise you have a strong spirit in achieving goals"
"Reach for the sky" A.K.A : Buzz (From Toy story. If you've seen it)
What whakatauki do you like best: Comment below/
If any feedforward or feedback, please leave a nice comment..
Thankyou! Have a great day!
