New Zealand People

Kia Ora, Malo, Talofa and many more greetings! I have registered for a learning site called The Winter learning journey and travels from North to South... This site will be good for you.!

#1 .  Go to the Tourism New Zealand website and click on the ‘Facts - New Zealand People’ tab. Read about the people of New Zealand and then choose three interesting facts to post on your blog. The facts must be written in your own words. Do not simply copy and paste the facts from the website☺. (This is the first step before starting)

Although, my three main topics are : - Early Voyages
- Backyard Genius
- Mateship on the sport field.

I think these topics are inspirational because it shows us humans the history of Maori people. Not all New Zealanders need to be Maori, this is a free country and we welcome anyone! ve

Early Voyages:
From what i've learned, Maori people have voyaged 1,000 miles across the horizon - A.K.A : Pacific Ocean. For Maori people to travel past and around the ocean, they would use a carved WAKA. Waka is the Maori word for Small-Canoe. Maori humans have been traveling miles across the sea and skies everynight, until they found their home... New Zealand. Now, to this day, Maori culture is a central part of New Zealands found identity.

Backyard Genius:
Kiwi people have been discovering and creating many things around the world. This is why we humans now have shelter, food etc. Many years back, men would sacrifice life, no matter what got in their way, just to find shelter, food, clothings etc., for families to survive. How do you think we got what we have now?? Many inventions have been designed in the backyard.
Did you know that New Zealanders are responsible for the tranquilizer gun, electric fences etc.

Mateship on the sport field.
What year do you think the two world wars started?  Well, as then, both wars were too heavy and neither were balanced on a right type of level. They would both fall on one angle and then another angle. This saw a great weight accident and threw out some of New Zealands male population. Many families lost their husbands, father, uncle, grandpa etc. Now days, it is a loyalty to become friends and mateship. This quality is still in everyone and we also need to remember that we are all special no matter what religon etc.

#2. Your tour of New Zealand is going to start right here in Auckland. Watch the Tourist video for Auckland to learn about the awesome things that you can see and do in the city. Once you’ve finished, choose your favourite five activities from the video and list them on your blog.

- Culture Display
Shows a big part of my culture. Has a display of Maori cultures history.

- Rainbows End
Fun Adventure Park. Lots of fun.

- Bungy Jump (Sky tower)
Exploring what Auckland looks like from the top. Breathe taking activity.

- Outland Park
Viewing the different kinds of natives in the outside land. Native animals.

- Waitakere Ranges.
I have chosen Waitakere Ranges because the trees that lay here are what helps humans survive from stalvation, shelter etc. It also has a history behind it and how it comes every year.
Some times, I believe that, when Matariki comes every year, they have a gift for each of the 6 sons born from Papatu-a-nuku(Mother Earth) and Ranginui(Sky Father). One of the Matariki sisters would always send a gift as children to Tanemahuta, to the sharing of humans.

Thankyou for listening to my text:

  1. Kia ora Constance and welcome to the Winter Learning Journey blogging programme! I am so excited to see that you have decided to blog with us this holiday. Awesome!

I really enjoyed reading through your first blog post and, through reading it, learned a lot about both Auckland city and about New Zealand as a whole. I had no idea that New Zealanders had created or invented so many important items until I read your blog post. It is clear that New Zealanders are very clever and inventive people. They are also very brave and strong.

Speaking of bravery, I can't imagine what it must have been like to be one of the first people to settle in New Zealand. The original Maori settlers were so brave, weren't they? They forged a life in a brand new country without much help or support. I agree with you that we should honour these men and women who had the courage to embrace the challenge of moving to New Zealand and settle here.

I hope that you will continue the Winter Learning Journey this holiday. There is so much more to learn about New Zealand and so much more great information to share!

Hope to see you online again soon :)

    Cheers,
    Rachel

P.S. I see that you have posted a number of other activity posts for the Winter Learning Journey. I will check them out later today!
