How does Night & Day happen?

IALA: How night and night happens.

This blogpost is about, how night and day happens.

Did you know that Earth is the only planet that has night and day? And also we are the only planet who have 24 hours in a day?

Day and night is caused by the Earth's rotation with the Moon and the Sun. When half of Earth's globe is facing the darkness, we get night. At the same time, the other half of Earth has day. This is because it is facing towards the sun.

Here is an example:



While the Earth is rotating around the Sun, the moon is orbiting the Earth. Taking 365 days for the Earth to rotate around the Sun, and 24 hours for the Moon to orbit around Earth.

There are also other beliefs and old stories in how we get night and day.

Maths - Problem Solving🤷🙋

Kia Ora! Talofa! And many more greetings..

Today, for maths we did problem solving.
The problem we had to solve was: How many band aids are in each kit?

Question:
Kelly bought 832 bandaids to take to Camp Raglan. The bandaids must be equally shared into 8 first aid kits. How many band aids are in each kit?

The strategy my group used was : Dividing.

832.

We took the 800 and divided it into 8 equal groups. Leaving the 32 out.
This gave us 100.

Because 800 divided by 8 = 100.

We divided the 32 by 8 and this equaled 4.

Because 32 divided by 8 = 4

We added both answers of 100 and 4. Altogether it gave us = 104.

This problem solving was easy for me. And I hope to do harder questions next time.
Although, I really enjoyed working with this problem question and also discussing it with my group.

Stop Anti-Bullying

IALT: Use my knowledge to help stop Anti-Bullying

Have you noticed how someone feels when getting bullied?

Has anyone ever been bullied? Or seen someone else bully another person?

Or have you once been a bully?

Wonder to yourself:

How does this affect the person?

Why am I doing this?

Is there anything or anyone to help me with this problem?

Can I change?

Why bullies, bully:

Believe this or not, 99% of the bullies in the world, bully because life for them is hard as well.

But 1% of them, bully to be the popular one at school, or to try and prove something to others.

But when you get bullied or bully someone else, it honestly makes them feel offended and

worthless.

It makes them feel empty and like they don’t exist.

WORDS DO HURT!

And these words can lead to suicidal thoughts,

drugs, drug dealing and also cutting themselves.

Getting Help:

If you need any help, or you may need to talk to someone.

You have your parents, family, friends and teachers.

But for me, I honestly recommend someone who you trust and someone who will make you smile,

during your conversation.

This is probably, your best friend.

Talk to someone who will understand what you are going through?

And may be someone who has experienced it as well.

Do not harm yourself and keep these emotions inside you. Let it out.

The difference between boys and girls being bullied:

BOYS:

50% of the boys deal with bullying from fighting.

20% of the boys commit suicide.

And 30% of the boys do drugs or even drug deal.

GIRLS:

50% of the girls attend to cut themselves around their whole body.

And 50% of the girls attend to commit suicide.

How it affects this person:

Bullying can affect someone, physically, mentally and also emotionally.

If you are being bullied or you see someone else being bullied, it makes them:

Feel anxious, lonely, insecure and can make them cry a lot.

Be unable to concentrate in class

Poor grades

These are one of the reasons, why we should prevent bullying.

My Leadership Tasks- Lesson 1

IALT: Reflect on what I've learned from the leadership programme. 

During the Leadership programme, I've learned : What is a leader? and What makes a leader? .

LEADER:

A leader is someone who is consistently doing the right thing. Even when no one is looking. You may also know this phrase as 'Integrity'. 

A leader is someone who constantly shows the school values, and is committed to follow any rules made. 

I think what makes a good leader is someone who is Delegate. 

This means entrusting another person. Being able to give them a responsibility to do, without ensuring they won't be able to do the task right. 

An example I've seen relatinging to this quality is:

When a teacher chooses a student from the class to do a job for them, they are delegate in you, because they know you'll do the given task right and fast. 

A T.P.S leader is someone who demonstrates the school values consistently. The school values helps us to show strong leadership qualities like - Motivating others, Problem Solving and also being Trustworthy. 

To the T.P.S leaders, this means: 

Motivating others - Encouraging others to participate and contribute in any activities. 

Problem Solving  - Preventing problems before they happen. 

Trustworthy - Being someone who others can rely on. 

I've learned so much about what a leader is and what makes a good leader. 

The challenging part about the leadership programme was thinking of What a T.P.S leader is. 

Although, we did get through with it. Because all the student leaders contributed and participated and was also confident to share their opinions/ideas.
