IALT: REFLECT ON MUSIC. 

Kia Ora! And Malo E Lelei!

Today I will be reflecting on myself and group 1's music session. 

During our music class time, we were learning about rhythm, beat, pitch, note, volume and tempo. 

We learned about this because, these are the basics in music. 

After learning the basics, we then played a game called the Piano says. 

This game is like simon says, but with no talking, but talking from the piano.

How to play:

If the music teacher presses on the low note everybody will bob down. 

If he/she presses the middle note, you'll fold your arms standing. 

And if he presses high pitch, your body stands straight with arms in the air. 

Try playing this game with your class. 

After playing our game, we then learned how to read music and musical notes. If the notes are between each line, it will spell "F.A.C.E" and the pattern will keep continuing. If it is on the line, it will spell "E.G.B.D.F" as for us to remember it, it stands for : Every Good Ballet Dances Fast. But in music alphabets, the only letters are "A.B.C.D.E.F.G". 

Here is a quick tip:

In between the lines spell face, and on the line spells egbdf. 

The pattern actually goes like this. 

F(G), A(B), C(D). 

What I really enjoyed about music was getting to learn how to read music. This session helped me learn piano notes, and now I can try and play the piano.

Kapa Haka Regionals

Kia Ora! 
Every Year, Maori Culture holds a festival, called the Kapa Haka Regionals. This regionals brings the North, East, West, and South islands to come and perform as one. This show only goes on for 2 days. Lucky for me, I got to attend to one of 2 performances. 

The performances/groups I watched were - Te Puru Kaumatua, and Odyssy. 

Te Puru Kaumatua Kapa Haka group, has elder people in it. This group was for all the elder women and men. One thing I liked about their group, was the PUKANA they gave to the crowd! Way to go Pops and Nans!

The next performance and group I watched, were the Odyssey programme. Odyssey is a place where people go to change their lives around. And this year was their first performance in history. For their first performance, their group really stood out and impressed me. One thing  I really enjoyed watching, was that they all were Kia Kaha, they weren't nervous at all, and that their harmonization was AMAZING!

Throughout the whole day in town, another thing I really enjoyed were getting to meet Puawai, Tawaroa and Awatea. If you don't know them, they are from Maimoa music. Puawai and Tawaroa were the host of the day, and Awatea was a audience and also a performer.

These three people are who I met at regionals.

Technology - Cooking Class

Kia Ora!

Today at technology, the year 7 and 8's were split in our year groups.
The year 7 were making Macaroni and cheese, while the year 8's made Quiches.

My buddy today at technology was Aletheia. It was great getting to cook with her.

One thing I really enjoyed today at technology,
was eating the Quiches. It was honestly amazing!

The challenging thing about cooking the Quiches was trying to equal the egg in the muffin tray.

Doing the sport Orienteering!

Have you ever heard? or ever played the sport Orienteering?
Well, during our time at Camp Raglan last week, I and others took part in the sport Orienteering.

At first, I wasn't really excited to do Orienteering, because there were a lot of cow Poop everywhere, and we had to walk up really steep hills. The worse thing, was I kept tripping up. Although, I did face this fear.

After I learned how to use a compass and the map, I got to caught up in the sport, I didn't even worry about what was around me. I didn't even know if I stood in cow poop. (Yes, it may sound disgusting). - But cow poop can actually make you live longer.

The challenging thing throughout this sport, was when myself and three other students had to wait for the whole team. Because we would run off, to try and find the ribbons.

Overall, I this sport was really fun, because I got to know more about the sport Orienteering. But, honestly, I wouldn't want to do this sport again!

This is because, I don't have a passion towards orienteering, and it is not what I really like doing!

Camp Raglan Reflection !

Greetings!

Last week, the Kia Manawanui synciate - Years 7 & 8), went to camp at Camp Raglan, down in Hamilton. And, there were many activities, we've been taking part in. Activities like : Abseiling, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Orienteering,Rifle Range, Archery, Confidence Course and Low Ropes.

I really enjoyed participating and contributing in all the activities given to us. I enjoyed these activities because I got to bond with students I don't hang out with that much. It was a good time for me to learn and get to know more about other peers in my classroom. It was fun building positive relationships with others, and relating to them.

Tidal Phenomenon - How do tides work?

In science class today, we've been learning about - What is a tide? How tides work? And how they occur.

Here is a short paragraph of what is a tide and how it works.

Tidal Phenomenon!

A tide is not just the rise and falls of ocean water. Tide is the movement of water caused by complex and interactions between the gravitational forces of the Earth, Moon and Sun.

The combined forces cause the oceans bulge out in the direction of the Moon. As the Earth rotates around on its axis, the bulge is directly in line with the Moon. The Earth rotates a few times faster than the bulge, therefore the solid Earth moves towards the water bulge. Observing the tide from Earth, you might think that the water goes to the Earth's surface. When in facts its the Earth's surface that meets the water bulge.

Now you know what tides are and how they occur.

Letter to James Kilisimasi !

Kia Ora and Malo!

Last week, the Kia Manawanui syndicate went to camp, at Camp Raglan! As we came back, all student leaders were to write Thank you letters to the parent helpers and teacher helpers!

The parent helper that I got given, was - Mr. Kilisimasi. (A.K.A - James).
James is a father from a student at Tamaki Primary, and has proudly volunteered to be a parent helper for Kia Manawanui at Camp Raglan!




 Here is what I've written in the letter to James Kilisimasi.

Dear Mr. Kilisimasi (A.K.A - James),
On behalf of the Kia Manawanui syndicate, we would like to thank you for attending to camp, and helping us throughout our days at Camp Raglan! We really enjoyed your enthusiasm and the contribution you have put towards the Kia Manawanui syndicate. We also enjoyed your jokes and dance moves you've shared with the bunch of us. And, you do have an amazing voice!
We think you are an awesome father, and we really enjoyed creating memories with you, especially at orienteering and kayaking. We also enjoyed singing songs and playing the whisper challenge on the bus.

You'd also make an amazing P.E teacher for Tamaki Primary School.
May GOD bless you throughout the year and we wish you all the best for your studies. We hope to see you on another Kia Manawanui syndicate adventure.

Cooking Class - Technology

Kia Ora and Malo!

On Thursday for cooking class, we made Hot Cakes. For this session, my partner was Amon.
Something I enjoyed in cooking class was, eating my buddies hot cakes. And, also getting to learn how to make Hot Cakes.
The challenging part of cooking class, was trying to get my buddy to flip the pancake early, because he would burn one side and have the other side nicely bronzed.



Skills for the term:
- Follow the intructions
- How to read the instructions right
- How to measure the ingredients.

If you would like to make hotcakes yourself, here are some ingredients and steps you'd need to follow.

Step 1.
1. You'll need a bowl. - Preferably, large
2. Measure 1 1/2 cup of S.R flour.
3. 1/2 cup sugar.
4. 1 cup of milk.
5. 1 Egg.

Step 2.
1. Mix all ingredients, until you get a thick paste.

Step 3.
1. Turn your stove on high. Once you can feel the heat, add the butter into the pan.
2. Turn the stove down to 5.

Step 4.
1. Use a serving spoon and serve 3 equal pancakes into the pan.
2. Set on plate.

Step 5:
1. Add some decoration ( Whipped Cream, and Chocolate sauce). Choice is yours.
