IALT: Reflect on my reading test

Welcome back to my blog!

Today, I have just been recently tested for reading. I was actually excited for my reading test!
I didn't really find anything challenging for my reading test, but I do wish I could have another test done, so I can top my score from today.

I felt really proud of me for getting 80% in my reading and getting to the level - 14.-15.
Next time, I do hope that I can get to the final levels - which is 15.5.

These reading skills will be able to help me for any investigating and researching. It will also help me with my writing.

Cyclone Hola - Research

IALT: Research about the upcoming Cyclone Hola. 

Have you ever heard of a Cyclone Hola?

Well, a cyclone Hola is like a tropical storm. To help me out, I use a cyclone Hola as if it will be doing a Hola. Because, this cyclone type has hard wind and circles around like a coma. 

It's a sad fact that this Cyclone Hola will be hitting New Zealand. This is a place where I am originally born and also somewhere I stand. My Turangawaewae. - A place I stand. Furthermore, a cyclone Hola has not just effected New Zealand, but also other countries as well. 

I think that the main point in this message is to inform everyone in New Zealand that a Cyclone Hola is heading Auckland. This cyclone may be passed onto Australia, but we'll see soon.

Creative Stories - Te Tuhi

WALT: Write a reflection about our experience at Te Tuhi.

1. Name at least 3 things that you learned at Te Tuhi?

* Mens and Womens that went to Te Tuhi has displayed some of their artwork on the walls and screens. One of these mens names were : Gary Peters - A slow take and Shannon Te Ao - With the sun aglow, I have my pensive moods.

* Buy the help of creativity, it helped Gary Peters and Shannon Te Ao concoct a design they have related to.

* Gary Peters took and idea from a sealing. Lots of colours. This art piece relates to an air conditioner.
*Shannon Te Ao has created an artwork that is based on his culture, and where he comes from? - Turanga waewae. - Down below is a photo of each artists work.

2. Explain two ways you can take what you have learned to give back to the community?

* Coming back to TPS, I brought back a positive mindset and a can do attitude!

3. Name one thing you would have liked to spend more time on? Explain why?

* One thing that I would like to have spent more time on was our Role play because people didn't really know there lines so we kind of just made it up as we went through it. In addition, I also wanted to have more time on our role play, because I would've really liked my team's confidence to build up.

4. What is the one thing that Salome taught, that you have liked?

*One thing Salome did that I liked was when she showed us Gary Peters artwork because it was very colourful and I liked that he got inspired just by this on little thing which was the Ventilation.

Current Events - SOLO TAX - Cyclone Gita: Tonga

Kia Ora!

Today, I have been focusing on the cyclone Gita in Tonga.

Using, the SOLO TAXONOMY!.

Through this lesson, something I have learned was: Cyclones and Hurricanes have different storm paths.

Cyclone:

What I think?

A cyclone is a variety of air that circles around the lower atmosphere.

What the internet says?

In meteorology, a cyclone is a large scale air mass that rotates around a

strong center of low atmospheric pressure. Cyclones are characterized by inward spiraling winds

that rotate about a zone of low pressure.

Hurricane:

What I think?

A hurricane a storm of wind that spins around the world in the

lower atmosphere. Causing harder and strong rain and winds.

What the internet says?

A tropical cyclone which is called Hurricane is a rapidly

rotating storm system characterized by a low-pressure center,

a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of

thunderstorms that produce heavy rain.

   The effects on this book is about a young tama/kotiro, who were told the great stories of his/her hira-Koro(Great- Grandfather). However, mother did talk in depth about grandfather.. Meaning:
   * Whether he was scared the first time he flew himself
   * How securely he crouched on the control.
   * How long the moon slept.
   * Whether he had dreadful dreams
   * How took the attention of reverse thinking when he couldn’t sleep.

   - I was gazing at grandfather, as he flew in the sky like a bird.
   - I heard the biplane whistling as birds flew by.
   - I could see birds gliding like
   - Grandfather was taking my attention as he was bringing in daylight.
   - I heard grandad crying loud,  as a awful dream drove by.
   - I saw the face of a handsome man smiling at me, to bait the bad memories I had.
   - Now on, I see this man bringing the daytime of light, into my life.

   In this poetry, the author has put 4 paragraphs.

   Unfortunately, there were not any rhyming words. Although, it did has expressions and ideas throughout the book.

The call for the heroes was sent around,

Australian, New Zealand boys and men were adventure bound,

They never gave up, they fought for us all,

Speaking we “LOVE YOU” and many more.

The trenches were cold and soldiers were worn,

The gunfire was held down from dusk to dawn,

From the moment they landed in ANZAC cove,

For peace and happiness, they all strove.

Wednesday 14th June

During the book, I have found some parts interesting and some parts strange. This was because for a moment  Matt had been led by the footprints of Pania but is now followed on by a girl named Kelly. Kelly is around her teens and says she a freaky clown: By this, I mean, she goes to fears and plays her shows as a clown. But, the book is still interesting. Besides this, I would like to say that Kelly is a very nice girl because after Matt’s long night stroll or travel, Kelly had offered him some food. What a great girl, she it! Although, I have caught up to chapter 7 and I am really excited to read more!

Multi-structural - Novel studies_T2W7

Monday 12th June

I have read the book for 20 minutes and the story has changed. Do you remember when Mat was getting strangled from Puarata! Well, here is the next part of the story. Mat scrambled up and turned, watching the girl. “Pania”. She greeted him in a melody voice. Mat blinked and shook his head - The moko(Maori tattoo on chin) he’d thought he seen, had vanished from her chin. He thought he’d been seeing things. She stuck out her right hand, and for an instant, the moko had reappeared on her chin. He jerked away in a massive fright. Blood dripped from his face. She told him what to do! As she indicated on her own nose where she meant. He stopped bleeding. She told him “Come with me”. As she led Mat through alleyways until they caught up to the Parade. His house was only a few kilometers away from his right hand side. She led him through a break in the traffic to the palm trees on the median. Two boys throwing stones in the beach stopped and gazed at the girl as they walked pass them. Matt asked the girl if she knew that warrior guy! No response had replied. He asked another question saying “Have you seen this before?” Meaning the tiki bone! She stopped, reached out, but stopped short of touching the tiki bone. Then, her soft brown eyes grew sad. Although, this was the after story book!

Monday 12th June

I have currently caught up to chapter 5 and the book is getting really dramatic and interesting. I am starting to get more and more butterflies every step of the stairs. It’s like my body is condensing together as it sinks through my bones. It’s like my mind has a maze of stories. It’s like every sentence is asking me “Choose me” billions of times. It’s getting to scary and it is like a horror movie flowing inside my bones and body as it is like being punched like a boxing bag. I am really getting into the book! Once I find out more in the book! I’ll post another prediction on my blog!

WALT: think and reflect on some things that the main character in this text we're reading has done.

1.  Write about a choice the main character had to make this week. A choice that the main character, Matt, has had to make this week is whether or not he was going to follow the steps of some random girl that honestly saved him from seeing heaven. I think he made the right choice as she's the first person throughout the whole story who  frightened Puarata away and I'm thinking she knows what she's doing and maybe she knows where she's going and what she's doing. It sounds that this random girl is pretty, and has a great bubbly, caring personality inside of her. Although, I also think that this Maori girl is probably related to Matt in blood. Only because it sounds like one of the family members. And, I also hope that "Pania", the random girl stays safe. Lets find out next ! 

Hopefully Matt has made the right decision of following the strange girl.

Friday 9th June

I have caught up to chapter 5 and the book is starting to get very interesting and dramatic. Here is the dramatic and interesting part of the story! Hope you enjoy. A phone started to ring, Maitu yelled “Don’t answer it”, as he sprinted down the stairs. Rikki was holding a whole load of goodies in the shopping bags. Mat ran into the office, where Tama had a digital phone. A number showed up on the lit panel. Tama(Dad) was calling. A few seconds later they realised that Tama must have missed Mat. Mat followed Rikki out the door, dropped his kit and turned to lock up. They heard the phone ring again. He put the key in the lock, when the low purr of a car engine made him turn. Rikki had stopped beside the Ford. The drivers opened the door near-side and Tama Douglas stepped out. From the passenger door, on the far side of the car, Puarata appeared. Mat opened his mouth and said “RIKKI RUN” and jerked the front door. Over his shoulder he saw everyone pause momentarily. Matiu saw Rikki half-turn, his mouth open to yell our something, when Tama’s fist swung in a huge arc that smashed into his jaw, his eyes rolled back into his skull. Over his shoulder, Mat could see Donna flow toward him. He started to run. He ran a block and chanced a glance back. The street seemed empty. He could see the rail station ahead. Puarata caught him and started to strangle Matiu. Matiu opened his mouth to scream, but he couldn’t get enough air, could the gag and fail at the massive fist holding him. A warrior set his hands free. The warrior straightened the first words. It stared at a Maori girl, maybe sixteen standing a few meters away, with flowing black hair. For a second moment, she gracefully had a moko on her chin. His hands went up as if protecting his eyes and he stumbled away as if she were the terrifying thing he’d ever seen. She raised her hand and opened her mouth again, he gave a sudden howl, and ran off into the darkness. He was probably scared of this Maori girl. I wonder what could happen next? Although, I know that this Maori girl is named “Pania” because it says on the next chapter title.

The Tiki Bone - Pre-structural

Wednesday 7th June 2017.

I haven’t read much of the book lately, but today my predictions are short and simple. I am predicting that Rikki gets caught and that he snitches on Matt which will lead this to a bigger drama. I would like this to happen because it would make the story more juicy and exciting. Already, I have butterflies doing its cycle twerk in my belly. This is because, the story is getting to the mark where it gets dramatic and scary. I am also predicting that, if Rikki gets caught and “Blabs”(Snitch) on Matt, everything would go crazy and Puarata may get the Tiki Bone! This is all I have read so far and I will share the next part of the story once I read the rest!

The Bone Tiki - Multistructual

Multistructural !

Matiu left his dad. He stole Tama’s keys and drove off with his car. Although, if I was to be in Matiu’s shoes, I would agree to leave because it is better for him and the tiki bone to live. Furthermore, as a person, I think Mat(Matiu), is a great person himself and also has an amazing personality. Even if he left his dad. Before continuing on, “Would you like to wonder why Matiu left his dad?” Well, Matiu left his dad, because he could hear Tama and Puarata talking on the phone about the “Tiki Bone”. Puarata wanted this Tiki really bad. So, as they arrived to the nanny Wai’s tangi(Funeral), Matiu took the Tiki and kept it on lock. Why is this Tiki Bone so important? Let's find out!

WALT: Write a plot summary, on the story we're currently reading.

WEDNESDAY 24TH MAY, 2017.

This week, I’m predicting that I’m getting more closer to the end and deeper into the storyline.There’s going to be something big! Something Juicy! Something really Unsafe is about to happen and it’s going to be something unexpected. My predictions: two weeks ago have changed so much, there’s nothing to do with a bush so far and they’re not true, country maori people.Well this is another prediction of mine because instead of using the word "piupiu", they said ‘grass skirt’. What’s kind of confusing me at the moment is that everytime I start a new chapter they’re doing something different and sometimes in a whole new different place. My personal goal for this week is to finish the book and to be able to explain and have proof that I have completed the story and I know what ‘The Bone Tiki’ is all about.
