Explanation Reflection - Writing

IALT: Reflect on my explanation writing.

Kia Ora. Malo. Talofa. ! And greetings.
Today, I will be reflecting on my explanation writing.

-What I am good at, when it comes to writing? What I can improve on? And what future goals do I have for writing?

When it comes to writing, I am good at thinking quickly about what each paragraph will be about. I am also good at organizing my sentences, and basing it all on one topic.

Example: Title - How night and day happens?
Paragraph: Night and day is caused by the rotation of the Earth. When half of Earth's globe faces the Sun, we get day. At the same time, the other half of Earth is facing the darkness, which gives us night. The effect of this, gives us night and day.

Next time, I can improve on using the S.E.E.E structure consistently, and could also improve in connecting to the topic, and relating my knowledge to what I've read or learned.

This would help me to use the structure constantly, and would also help me to gain more knowledge, from what I know to what I've learned.

In the future,
My writing goal is to :
1. Write more powerful words.
2. Use sentences that doesn't have the word in it, but relates to the sentence.

How does Night & Day happen?

IALA: How night and night happens.

Kia Ora. Malo. Talofa!
This blogpost is about, how night and day happens.

Did you know that Earth is the only planet that has night and day? And also we are the only planet who have 24 hours in a day?

Day and night is caused by the Earth's rotation with the Moon and the Sun. When half of Earth's globe is facing the darkness, we get night. At the same time, the other half of Earth has day. This is because it is facing towards the sun.

Here is an example:

While the Earth is rotating around the Sun, the moon is orbiting the Earth. Taking 365 days for the Earth to rotate around the Sun, and 24 hours for the Moon to orbit around Earth.

There are also other beliefs and old stories in how we get night and day.

Writing -Reflection

WALT: Reflect on our writing session.

For the middle block, some Kia Manawanui students were learning about two different figurative languages. These are known as - Alliteration and also Hyperbole. Something I found challenging about this session, was understanding some examples. Next time, I could get a friend of mine to help me out during the lesson.

The meaning of : Alliteration is - The repetition of the same initial letter in a same series.
If this meaning does not help with your understanding. My meaning of Alliteration is (Repeating the first letter in most word in a sentence.)

Here are some examples of Alliteration:
1. Kim's kid kept kicking
2. Fred's friends fried fritos for fridays food.
3. Larry's lizard likes leaping leopards.

The meaning of : Hyperbole is an exaggeration that is unlikely to be true. If this does not make sense to you, or you don't get the understanding of Hyperbole -

Here are some examples for you to get an understanding:
1.  If I can't get a smartphone, I will die.
2. He knows everything in maths.
3. I have told you a million times, not to do that.

During this lesson, I have now learned what can make my stories interesting and engaging for my audience to read.

Kia Manawanui SC: Write definitions that makes sense to me.
