Kia Ora! And many more greetings to you all!.
This morning, Kia Manawanui syndicate had trials for the Volleyball game tomorrow.
The tournament is held @SelwynCollege. Orakei. 10 April 2018.
This is the first ever Volleyball tournament, Tamaki Cluster has ever had. And I am really excited for the game. I do hope I have been selected in the year 8 game.
Although, here is a little reflection I have completed about my session in Volleyball.
Volleyball:
Here are some basic rules that may help you, if you'd like to play Volleyball anywhere.
- When it's back to your teams serve, always rotate Clockwise.
- If you are to set the ball, use your fingers, not your palm.
- The boundaries are out of the square.
- Three passes in your team before it goes over the net.
Something I've learned from my volleyball skills, is that setting the ball is one thing I am good at. And that it is also easy for me to dig my hands underneath the ball, to help it travel over the net.
I do well at setting the ball to the other pairs in my team. But, something I need to work on is serving.
Setting the ball - When I set the ball, it helps one of my pairs to get underneath it and set it to the next person. This helps to get the ball over the net.
Serving - For me, serving is harder than I thought. E.g - When I serve the ball, it goes from straight to another direction. - My goal is to keep the ball straight for it to go to the opposite team.
During this game, I've realised that the pairs in my team and myself were working as a team and were also communicating. This helped us to keep the game going, without the ball touching the ground.
Communication - Communication helps the team know what to do. E.g - If I was to tell Aumau to pass the ball to me so I can set it to Grace. That'll be 3 passes. So when it gets to Grace, she'll dig the ball over the net.
Teamwork - Teamwork can help your team to communicate with the pairs in your group and can also help you to know what to do. It is a little bit like Communication.
2 players that I thought did well today, was Aumau and Grace.
Aumau - He was good at setting the ball. And was also good at communicating with the team.
Grace - Even though Grace would fail at serving the ball, she'd never GIVE UP!. She kept trying and trying until the ball went over the net.
This is the end of the Volleyball session, I have had.
