New Zealand Population 2018

IALT: Research on how many people live in NZ.

Did you know that there are currently 4,736,349 people that are living in NZ?.

Our first task given, was to get NZ's population of people who are standing on this land. And how many people are alive and on this land - 4,736,349 .

From my perspective 97% of the people are women/girls, and 20% of the people are men/boys.

This task is something new to me, and something that I have learned at this moment.

Within this task, Kia Manawanui syndicate had been learning about what makes NZ a great place to live in.

Here are some places that make NZ a great place to live in:
- Native
- Houses
- Community
- People
- Sightseeing - Mountains, etc.

What do you think makes NZ a great place to live in?

Here is a screenshot of the population of NZ's wide people.

Cyclone Hola - Research

IALT: Research about the upcoming Cyclone Hola.

Have you ever heard of a Cyclone Hola?
Well, a cyclone Hola is like a tropical storm. To help me out, I use a cyclone Hola as if it will be doing a Hola. Because, this cyclone type has hard wind and circles around like a coma.

It's a sad fact that this Cyclone Hola will be hitting New Zealand. This is a place where I am originally born and also somewhere I stand. My Turangawaewae. - A place I stand. Furthermore, a cyclone Hola has not just effected New Zealand, but also other countries as well.

I think that the main point in this message is to inform everyone in New Zealand that a Cyclone Hola is heading Auckland. This cyclone may be passed onto Australia, but we'll see soon.

Here is a presentation that shares my research on a Cyclone Hola.

Kiwisport Reflection. - Tennis

WALT: Reflect on our Kiwisport lesson with Peter.

Kia Ora! And many more greetings.

First of all, I would like to say Thank you to the Kia Manawanui teachers for letting Kia Manawanui have this lesson for Tennis. This is the first ever time we've had tennis lessons come to our school, and we are really excited to learn more about Tennis.

Kia Manawanui were split in two groups. Home 1 and Home 2. This is because, there were to many people in the Kia Manawanui syndicate.

For kiwisport, something I found challenging, was hitting the ball in a small area. Usually, we play Tennis outside on the courts - But because the Cyclone is coming, we had it in our school hall. Something, that I learned about, in hitting in small areas is that, hitting the ball soft can make you rally lots of times.

I enjoyed working with my teammates and also teaching others how to position yourself for you to get ready for the ball to come to you.

Here is a kiwisport photo of me and my partner!

Technology Reflection - Pewter Glass

WALT: Reflect on our Technology Lesson.

Technology Reflection - T1W6
__________________________

Kia Ora! And many greetings .

Here at Tamaki College. Tamaki Primary entered Technology day. I am in the Hard Material group. For pewter glass. We are making necklaces.

Something I enjoyed today, was cutting out my design and seeing the final look for my pewter glass. But, this is not the end. I will be needed to file and polish my necklace to make it shine.

I have gotten better at

What did you learn?
At technology I learned how to cut the cardboard out the shape of the photo, that I will be using as my necklace.

What problems did you encounter at Technology? And how did you solve them?
I would cut over the line many times, and made this weird picture. But once i got to filing. It fixed up the edges and made a smooth surface.

For this weeks material, we used: Filers - About 6 of them. 46m sand paper. And we also used this tool that would help us cut the recess off. Next time, I would definitely use the cutter.

My work says that I am individual and like to get things organised real quick.

One thing  I would like to improve on is - To get my filing done quick, so I can get the rest done - A.S.A.P. This is because, we would be doing lots of sand papering and polishing

PB4L - How should we behave in the toilets?

WALT: Behave appropriately in the school toilets.

Kia Ora! And Greetings to you all!
Today, Kia Manawanui has been working on a PB4L - How to act in school toilets?

Acting in toilets means : To use the toilet for your business and to also look after the equipment in the toilet. If you do not do this consistently in the toilet, this bathroom would be dirty.

Reflection on Maths - PAT

WALT: Take a test on Maths.

Have you ever heard of a PAT maths test.
Well, here at Tamaki Primary school, this is a website that all students use to do a maths test online.
Here is a link, if you would like to check it out. - ( www.nzceronline.org.nz) .
This website helps all students/people on any subject. It can be - Maths, Reading or maybe even writing. Something I found challenging? Something challenging from this online test, was trying not to rush myself.
This is because, you only have 40 minutes given, and in the given time,
you really need to think about your answer.

Down below is a reflection that I have completed.
Please keep reading!

Self-Defence - Lesson 2

WALT: Reflect back on our Self-Defense lesson.

Kia Ora! And many greetings to you all. Today, I will be reflecting on our self-defense lesson. And why it is important.

Why is this lesson important?
It is to keep ourselves safe. Being prepared and organised for any danger that heads for ourselves. And to also learn our boundary body parts. Trusting our instincts and also knowing what a yukky touch is and what isn't a yukky touch. - Bad or good touches.

Here is a presentation of my reflection that I have completed for the day.

Technology Reflection - T1W5 - Lesson 2

WALT: Reflect back on what we learned and did at Technology - Tamaki College

Kia Ora! and many more greetings to you all.

Today, Kia Manawanui syndicate went down to Tamaki College for another lesson of Technology. I am in hard material.

What did you learn at Technology?
I didn't finish the rest of my Pewter glass, because time was running out. But something I did learn was: how to sketch our drawing onto a cardboard. It may seem simple, but it is kind of difficult.

Step 1: At the back of your piece of paper, draw a circle for you to know where you will be colouring.
Step 2: Colour in the circle, with the pencil facing sideways. Instead, of the tip being pocked down.
Step 3: Turn the paper over and place the cardboard in a good squareS with the paper.
Step 4: Draw over the silhouette of your picture chosen.
Step 5: Take the cardboard out. And its now down.

What did you find enjoying about this?
Something I really enjoyed was tracing my design onto the cardboard. But after I finished, I was really excited about cutting my design out. But ended up not doing it. I do not have a picture yet of my design, but it is one of Simba from The Lion King.

Here are some finished examples of this Technology class. This was not made by Tamaki Primary, but by other students who were in this class. From other schools.
